Halewood to foray into US, Canada with Crabbie’s Ginger Beer

DBR Staff Writer Published 01 June 2012

Halewood International, a UK-based producer and importer of fine wines, spirits and specialty drinks, is to enter into US and Canadian markets with Crabbie’s Alcoholic Ginger Beer.

In the US, Crabbie's Ginger Beer will be imported by St Killian Importing, part of the L Knife Group, whereas the Canadian distribution will be handled by Bruce Ashley Group, reported Drinks International.

The brand will be initially launched in New York, Massachusetts, Maryland, Washington DC, California, Illinois, Texas, Kentucky, Ohio and Wisconsin, with plans to release throughout the nation by 2012.

Crabbie's will be available at a price of C$3.65 ($3.52) per 500ml bottle in Canada and at a price of $3.49-3.99 per 500ml bottle and $9.99 per 330ml four packs in the US.

Halewood International sales and marketing director Allan Dickson told the website that the ginger phenomenon experienced in the UK following the launch of Crabbie's has successfully driven the creation of a ginger category in its own right, something which Halewood International is aiming to replicate worldwide.

"Our global portfolio now includes the US, Canada and Australia with further international expansions in the pipeline," Dickson said.
